पेट्रोल-डीजल, दूध, पानी आदि तरल पदार्थों को एकत्र करने के लिए गोलीय संरचना के टैंक बनाए जाते हैं। इस टैंक में किसी अन्य संरचना वाले टैंक की अपेक्षा अधिक तरल पदार्थ एकत्र किया जा सकता है। दूसरा कारण यह है कि किसी तरल पदार्थ को एकत्र करने पर वह चारों दिशाओं में दबाव डालता है। इसलिए अन्य संरचना वाला टैंक जल्दी खराब हो जाएगा। जबकि गोलाकार टैंक अधिक दबाव सहन कर सकता है और जल्दी खराब नहीं होता है।
Why is a petrol tanker round ?
Tanks of spherical structure are made to collect liquids like petrol-diesel, milk, water etc. More liquid can be collected in this tank than any other type of tank. Another reason is that when a liquid is collected, it exerts pressure in all four directions. Therefore a tank with a different structure will wear out sooner. Whereas the circular tank can bear more pressure and does not wear out easily.
