भारत में पहली ट्रेन कब और कहां से चली थी
भारतीय रेलवे दुनिया का दूसरा सबसे बड़ा रेल नेटवर्क है। भारत में 16 अप्रैल 1853 को पहली यात्री ट्रेन बोरी बंदर (मुंबई) और ठाणे के बीच 34 किमी की दूरी तक चली थी। इस ट्रेन में 400 यात्री सवार थे। ट्रेन की बोगियों को खींचने के लिए साहिब, सुल्तान और सिंध नाम के तीन इंजनों का इस्तेमाल किया गया था। इस यात्री ट्रेन की शुरुआत का श्रेय बॉम्बे सरकार के चीफ इंजीनियर जॉर्ज क्लार्क को जाता है।
When and from where did the first train run in India
Indian Railways is the second largest rail network in the world. The first passenger train in India ran between Bori Bunder (Mumbai) and Thane on 16 April 1853, a distance of 34 km. There were 400 passengers in this train. Three locomotives named Sahib, Sultan and Sindh were used to pull the bogies of the train. The credit for the introduction of this passenger train goes to George Clarke, Chief Engineer of the Bombay Government.
