आमतौर पर एक पत्नी के साथ एक ही व्यक्ति जीवन व्यतीत करता है। हिमाचल प्रदेश के किन्नौर में ‘बहुपति विवाह’ प्रथा प्रचलित है। इस प्रथा में शादी के बाद सबसे पहले पत्नी के साथ बड़ा भाई समय बिताता है। उसके बाद उम्र के हिसाब से सभी भाई पत्नी के साथ समय बिताते हैं। करीब 10 सालों से हिमाचल प्रदेश में ‘बहुपति विवाह’ प्रथा बहुत कम चलन में हैं। अब यह प्रथा तिब्बत में प्रचलित है।
